Swedish
This is the most common massage modality; its techniques form the foundation for many bodywork practices.
The therapist uses soothing strokes to promote relaxation, increase circulation and decrease stress levels while
enhancing the function of both the lymphatic and immune systems.

Deep Tissue
Unlike Swedish massage that only addresses the superficial muscle layer, Deep Tissue reaches the deeper
lying muscles.  It requires a thorough understanding of anatomy an d physiology by the therapist.  The
therapist can incorporate many different massage methods (
myofascial release, trigger point therapy,
muscle energy techniques
, etc.) to release adhesions or other muscular anomalies that may have formed due
to injury, overuse and postural misalignments.  The depth of pressure is tailored to the needs of the client.

Myoskeletal Alignment
A technique that uses the manipulation of the muscular system to help align the skeletal system.  It is not
Chiropractic manipulation.  Emphasis is placed on early recognition of common strain patterns before they
become pain patterns.  The therapist focuses on "whole body alignment; myofascial, ligamentous and
musculoskeletal".

Sports
Whether you're a "weekend warrior" or training for the Ironman, Sports Massage can help alleviate the build-up
of muscle tension and fatigue that occurs during physical activity.  It helps to protect against pain and injuries
while boosting performance, aiding in the removal of  lactic acid and metabolic waste, and restoring normal muscle
tone and range of motion.

Zen Shiatsu
A Japanese form of bodywork developed by Shizuto Masunaga that follows a similar meridian structure as
acupuncture.  Zen Shiatsu is used to stimulate and balance the flow of life energy (the "Ki") in the body.
Shiatsu can be very effective in conditions where emotional disturbances or stress is an underlying factor
(insomnia, anxiety or depression, headaches, digestive disturbances, etc.).

Craniosacral
The therapist applies a gentle noninvasive pressure to alleviate restrictions in the Craniosacral system.  This
system is comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal
cord.  Provides relief for a variety of acute and chronic neuromuscular and musculoskeletal complaints.

Hot Stone
The therapist uses traditional strokes of Swedish massage while holding a smooth heated stone.  The warmth
of the stone helps muscles release more quickly and is very soothing to the client.  Hot Stone is ideal for those
who have muscle tension but prefer a lighter massage.  However, if you prefer deeper work, the therapist can use
the stones to penetrate to the deeper lying muscles.
